Silvia Loeffler
Dr Silvia Loeffler is an independent artist, researcher and educator based in Dublin. Most of Silvia’s work deals with the emotional scanning or deep-mapping of spaces. Drawing and writing, as writing means to draw with words, are her guides to establish a narrative of public intimacy. Silvia lectures on Visual Culture and Emotional Relationships with Space in the Dublin Institute of Technology and the National College of Art and Design. She is currently working on Glas Journal, a transdisciplinary project that explores how people relate to a maritime environment based on concepts of belonging and the multiple meanings of ‘harbour’. Silvia shared some thoughts on Mapping Spectral Traces: "The strongest resonance I have with everyone's work are alternative approaches to the understanding and the being touched by space in odd ways; that one can use very mundane elements as a poetic process [poetic not meaning boring or only for certain people] but daring and controversial. This can be an everyday way of mapping. A quiet way of mapping maybe. Philosophy and critical discourse are tools. Mapping concepts of care creates research to be taken seriously..." |
