Our members make the network! In this case, Mapping Spectral Traces is comprised of kindred spirits—people who are passionate about places and place-based research. We are attuned to the aesthetic as well as the functional, to the repressed as well as the apparent, and to the philosophic as well as the pragmatic. We are also very different as well: artists, performers, cultural geographers, landscape architects, critics, theorists, scholars, historians, architectural and cultural scholars, community policy makers, political activists, teachers and lecturers, folklorists, storytellers and writers.
It is the trust of shared interests and the safe exchange of budding ideas that makes this network distinctive. Each member contributes knowledge, experience, curiosity, commitment and a spirit of shared community. A look at what we have achieved in a short history of a few years together, as well as a review of what each individual member has done, is open for evaluation. There is a momentum building, and it is evident in the growing list of collaborations, publications, symposia, performances and events. We anticipate that the impact of our work will continue to grow in the further exchange of shared experience and receptive examination. Listed here are the co-convening members, a group who share an organizational commitment to the network. The members each add distinctive contributions in many ways. Our affiliate members, who are currently being identified and invited, will also bring elements of wide expertise to the network we have built. |
