Deep Mapping for the Stony Rises, The Stony Rises Project

  • Deep map installation of topographical and topology assemblages created by Gini Lee. This cross-landscape environment of six places in the Stony Rises of Victoria and the Flinders Ranges of South Australia is both a stratigraphy of texts gathered and invited, a kind of writing over writing over writing where points once separated in time are made adjacent through the medium of the gridded mat, and a conceptual ground of collected, invited and offered fragments, impressions gathered across these landscapes that are ordered and layered, and can be folded up and carried about. The ten elements necessary for a deep map are followed as near a possible with further fine-tuning through the curator’s eye helped by instructions from collaborators, when such instructions exist.

  • A revised locative multimedia (visual and sound) work by David Smith, using GPS and Hewlett Packard's mScape program to present Victoria Park to the public through the eyes of local artists whose work is inspired by the park. Featuring work by artists Dylan Arnold, Julian Gregg, Emily Ketteringham, Natalie Skidmore, David Smith and Ruth Whiter, and music by Parents of Soul.
